For pastors, youth leaders & small groups
Lead your people into the conversation
Teaching people about evangelism is one thing. Getting them to do it is another. ENGAGE! gives your people a small, clear step to take this week, and a reason to come back and tell the story.
"...to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,"
Ephesians 4:12 (ESV)
Why it works in a group
It's specific
"Share the gospel" feels huge. "Buy someone a coffee and ask what they think happens after death" is something a person can do by Friday.
It's equipping
Every card carries a short answer to a common objection, plus Scripture and a resource. People go out with something to say.
It builds stories
When people come back with what happened, the whole group grows bolder. That's the best part of the game.
Ways to use ENGAGE!
Pastors & churches
Run a church-wide outreach month or a class on sharing your faith. Give households a deck and track stories, not just points.
Youth groups
Hand out cards at the end of the night and start the next meeting with stories. Keep a points board on the wall for the semester.
Small groups
Close your study with a draw. Pair people up so no one goes alone, and hold each other to it next week.
Sunday school & classes
Use one Conversation card a week as your discussion starter. The notes and resources give you a teaching outline.
Families
Make it a weekly dinner-table habit. Younger kids can take the Action cards with a parent.
Between meetings
Encourage people to take a card on their own, daily or weekly, log it on a personal score card, and check in with an accountability partner.
A simple four-week plan
Here's one way to run it. Adjust it to fit your group.
- 1
Pray and practice
Read Romans 1:16 together. Walk through the rules. Each person draws one Action card worth 1 point.
- 2
Ask good questions
Practice a Conversation card in pairs inside the group first. Then everyone takes one out into the week.
- 3
Handle pushback
Read the notes on a few 3-point cards together. Talk through how to answer with gentleness and respect. Honest Answers helps here.
- 4
Go wild
Anyone who's ready draws a Wild card. Close with stories and prayer for the people you talked to.
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes..."
Romans 1:16 (ESV)
Print the group scoreboard to track the four weeks, and give everyone a "My 5 people" prayer sheet in Week 1. When the four weeks end, invite each person to keep going with the 30-day or 12-week challenge.
Leading well
Go first
Take a card yourself and tell your group how it went, even if it was awkward.
Celebrate faithfulness
Cheer for the person who tried and got a polite no, not just the one with the best story. God gives the growth.
Keep students safe
Have students go in pairs, stay in public places, and keep parents in the loop. Talk through social media cards before anyone posts.
Follow up
When someone hears a question they can't answer, help them find the answer and go back.
Point to Jesus
Kindness opens the door, but the cards are meant to end in the gospel, not just a good deed.
"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,"
Hebrews 10:24 (ESV)
